Focus on Our Earliest Learners

I love seeing the focus on our earliest learners š We spend a lot of time in the community discussing programs and policies that affect our high school students, and it can be easy to overlook our little ones. The foundational years in school - including access to quality pre-k - set the stage for later student success.
We give our children the keys to the castle by giving them quality formative instruction. Our TCPS early learning team does just that - and I am proud to have been at the forefront of our pre-k expansion, a strong focus on kindergarten readiness, and introduction of more phonics-based reading interventions.
As the parent of elementary school children, I have firsthand knowledge of the programs that have a direct impact on our earliest learners, and I have a record of going to bat for these programs and their expansion. Talbot County students cannot afford to lose my perspective!
